Sumber Biru: Unique Destination in The Middle of River

The holiday season is the thing most people look forward to. They will plan several activities to spend their holidays. The place started as a garbage dump for residents around the Wonomerto river. Until there are local residents who realized that throwing garbage around the river is not a good thing, so they took the initiative to clean up around the river by looking at the situation which was very possible. This place is actually a ‘’warung’’ or small shop for visitors to enjoy their food in the middle of the river. Until they find out that the place is getting busier, and the manager continues to try develop it and make it a tour called the Sumber Biru Tourism Area.

Sumber Biru Tourism presents a culinary experience in the middle of clean river water. Visitors can see the beautiful scenery and enjoy the airflow under their feet while enjoying the food served. The refreshing and cool sensation of the area in the middle of the forest will make visitors feel at home for a long there. In addition to these things, visitors can also take pictures at photo spots that have been provided. Some photo spots offer the beauty and coolness of the mountainous area. The most popular photo spots are replica ships, love bridges, heart-shaped benches, and many more.

This unique location in the middle of the forest is surrounded by various kinds of trees that provide a shady atmosphere around the river. The trees around the river such as cocoa, coffee, and durian, the number of flower plants with butterflies, and large rocks on either side of the river give a touch of beautiful rural nature. From the entrance place, visitors will be treated to beautiful village-style decorations, some umbrellas that are hung to add a unique impression. This river tourism which has a length of approximately 200 meters become a favorite place for all people.

To enjoy this Sumber Biru destination, visitors only need to purchase an entrance ticket and parking. For weekdays entrance tickets, priced at Rp.5000 and weekends or holidays Rp.10,000. for motorbike parking only need to pay Rp.2000 and Rp.5000 for car parking. Ordering system in the mail order. Starting from traditional food, various noodles, snacks, fried foods, and various drinks which are provided in full by the restaurant at Sumber Biru. No need to worry if going there, because the price of the food is fairly cheap. For fried food starting from Rp.1000, snacks start from Rp.7000, drinks and various other heavy foods only around Rp. 4000 to Rp. 15,000.

This destination is visited by many people from outside Jombang area. The tourism management staff said that most of their visitors came from Jakarta, Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Lamongan, and Mojokerto, the main areas of northern East Java as well as many other regions, said Fi'li, one of Sumber Biru's tourism employees. Not only that, she also said visitors can be very crowded on holidays. On weekdays 50-150 people, Saturday 100-500 people, and Sunday can be 700-1500 people per day. The opening hours are from 08.00 to 17.00 on weekdays. Visitors only need to travel 1 and a half hours from downtown Jombang to Sumber Biru tours.

Little Sparrow and The Darkness

In a tree by the river, there lived sparrows and their son, Juju. Juju is a little sparrow who is afraid of the dark and can't sleep if his mother doesn't accompany him. Because he was afraid of the dark night, every day his mother had to accompany Juju until he fell asleep. However, tonight will be different because Juju's father and mother are going to visit his uncle sparrow that feels unwell in the forest across.

"Juju, can mum and dad go to the uncle's house?"

"Now mum? I want to come along”

"You have to stay at home because it's getting night," said Juju's father

"Mum and dad won't be long, we just want to visit your uncle for a while," said Juju's mother

"Okay dad, mum. Give my regards to uncle sparrow, tomorrow morning I will visit him "

Juju realized that it would be very dangerous if he accompanied his parents out at night.

''After all, his flying ability is not as good as his father and mother'' thought Juju

    Tonight, Juju can't sleep. He had to wait for his mother to come home and accompany him to sleep. As he was about to go to his little nest, Juju heard something strange behind the leaves. Something shining flew right in front of the treehouse.

"What was that?"

         Juju was worried about it. He tried to let it not be too scared, but the light kept moving and making sounds. It sounded like a cry for help.

“Anyone out there helps me… please…”

         Hearing that, Juju felt pity and wanted to see what that voice really was. Although still scared, Juju tried to fly from the nest and check it out in person. When peeking from behind the leaves, how shocked Juju. He saw a small animal trapped in the thick leaves and unable to get out. Seeing that, Juju immediately helped him and the little animal managed to get out of the thick leaves. The little animal thanked Juju and was very happy to be able to fly freely again.

“Thank you, little bird”

         Juju wonders why there is still an animal roaming around at night like him, Juju looks at the animal and thinks about what animal he really is.

"Hey, who are you? I've never seen an animal like you?" asked Juju in surprise.

"Is it true? You've never seen an animal like me before?"

"Yeah, I'm afraid of the dark. That's why I never go out at night."

"I'm a little firefly, my name is Kuni, and you?"

"My name is Juju. Why are you out at night? Aren't you afraid of the dark?”

"Why are you afraid? I am a nocturnal animal. At night I can turn on the light on my tail like this.”

         Kuni showed his shining tail to Juju. Juju who saw it was amazed. How can an animal have such light, Juju thought to himself.

     After Kuni flew and showed how his tail could glow, Kuni had a lot of conversations with Juju. Then asked Juju why he was afraid of the dark and couldn't even sleep if he wasn't accompanied by his mother.

"I always thought that in the dark of night there was a monster that was walking around outside" explained Juju anxiously looking left and right.

Hearing that, Kuni burst out laughing.

"Hahahahaha there is no monster. At night the sun is resting and is replaced with a shining moon"

         Kuni explains again that he is an animal that lives at night like the moon, while Juju is an animal that lives in the morning like the sun. Kuni Returns asked Juju if he has seen the moon. But Juju replied that he had never seen the moon once. He was too afraid to go out at night. Hearing all Juju's explanations for his fear, Kuni took the initiative to take him somewhere.

“Hey Juju, come with me!”

"Where to? I'm scared,” said Juju

“A place to see something beautiful, you will love it”

Seeing the scared Juju, Kuni tried to comfort him.

"There's no monster, Juju. It's not far from here"

Hearing that, Juju ventured to go with Kuni. They came out of the treehouse and flew to the river bank.

     It didn't take long, Juju and Kuni arrived at the place. A place near the river with thick trees and leaves creeping from the rocks.

"Where is that beautiful place Kuni?"

“Follow me” Kuni talked to Juju.

         Kuni slipped into the long leaves that spread from the top of the rocks and Juju followed suit. Upon entering it, Juju was surprised at how beautiful what he was looking at. In front of him, there was a swamp full of lotus flowers and frogs perched on it. He also saw many small animals like Kuni flying brightly over the swamp. Not only that, but he also saw something shining in the sky.

"The big thing shining in the sky is the moon and the sparkling thing is the star"

“Wow that's so beautiful”

Juju was amazed to see the beauty.

"From now on I won't be afraid of the dark anymore Kuni, the darkness at night holds a beauty I've never seen before. I guess, from now on I won't be afraid anymore and will go to bed without telling mom to take care of me.”

         Kuni was happy because Juju was no longer afraid of the dark at night. Juju thanks Kuni for helping him overcome his fear.

"Thank you Kuni, you are a good friend," said Juju

"You're welcome, Juju. you also helped me"

         After Juju and Kuni enjoyed the night view, they returned to their nests. When he returns to his nest, Juju finds his parents do not come home yet. Juju thought that it would be better if he slept first without waiting for his mother. "Without waiting for my mum, I dared to sleep in my own nest room. Nothing to worry about. Mum and dad must be proud to know that now I'm brave” thought Juju. He also rushed to fly to his nest and slept comfortably without worrying about the monsters that previously made him scared.
